I saw a drop top baby bird at the Pismo car show with a new crate motor, smoothed out a bit and wheels, it was a rose/cream color, sounded and looked killer with a blond driving it. Sorry, can't find a pix...

Value is a good point, so keeping it nearly original as far as body and trim would be wise. Also, like the '57 Chevy, you rarely see the '57 "Bird" restyled. It is hard to improve on the styling of either car. I would go for wheels, paint, interior, and maybe a more modern high horsepower Ford engine, however....
....If you own this car for enjoyment, and not as an investment, then do what YOU like....and let the "experts" grow an ulcer, while you have the fun!
