New guy needing all kinds of help!!
Hey all! My names Jared and I'm new to the forum and hotrod scene. Ive been wanting to get a car to restore/hotrod for a long time now and finally got one I liked. My only problem is I dont know where to find parts or anything. I bought a 1940 chevrolet master deluxe 2 door sedan. I paid $500 for it with clean title. Its 100% complete, but has been setting for years and the two drivers side fenders need replaced due to damage. I want to restore the whole car to be a good driver. Possibly swap the frame out with an s-10 frame, 350/auto, and new rear end. But I dont want to start doing any of this until I can gather up some body parts I need so I'll know if I can even find some. If ya have any help or advice for me I'd love to hear it! Thanks, Jared

Welcome Jared. I had a similar problem when I bought my Nash. I needed an entire front clip. I joined the Nash club and when I got a directory, I started calling people in my state who had the same car as me. Within 5 phone calls, I had all the parts I needed so I invited my dad to go on a road trip to gather them up. We met some nice people, saw a lot of Hudson and Nash autos and got my parts. So I would suggest that you check out the car clubs for your car and see what they have for sale. If I found my parts for a 40 Nash, you should be able to get em for a 40 Chevy.

I used yahoo search but more people prefer google now a days. You can google 40 Chevy car club and see what comes up and expand your search based on what you find and do a search for 40 Chevy parts and see if anything comes up there as well. This site also has a section for parts wanted and parts for sale. Go through those pages and see what ya find.

You have to join the VCCA club forum. It's restorer club for chevys. DON'T tell them you are going to rod it up as they are almost all purists. BUT, youn will get lots of info from them on howtos and where do's.
Also there are plenty of chevy suppliers. One that is dedicated to chevies it The Filling Station in OR.

money. Lots of money..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
