radiators?
I'm building a 36 chevy pickup on a budget. Can anyone suggest what type of radiator would cool a SBC? I've looked at Walker, but I don't want to pay $700 if I can find something else that will work. Thanks for any help

If you have the stock radiator, measure the core width and height, then the total width and height with tanks and we'll try to find an inexpensive alternative for you.

I do not have the original radiator, however, the measurements of the inside of the shell are appx 18" wide and 26" tall

Go to Speedway Motors and look at their aluminum radiators.

For my coupe (355 Chevy, mild cam, 4-barrel) I bought an aluminum radiator for a '66 Mustang and trimmed the mounting flanges down to fit in my '32 grille shell. I got it on Ebay for $319. I could have gotten a brass one for $149.Jim

Hey 36 Chevy -
I'm also building a 36 chevy 2 door standard sedan with a SBC (actually it's a '94 LT1 engine). I got a great deal on an aluminum radiator for a 34 ford. The guy that I bought it from was building a 440 HP engine and decided he wanted a radiator that had the trans cooler built in (I don't have a problem with a frame mounted trans cooler). So I know this radiator can handle my 350 hp engine.
I fabricated a new radiator mount that is now welded on the frame. It integrates the front fendor mounts and the radiator into a single unit. It is all fabriacted in and I have the fan shroud with 2 electric fans mounted also. Because I set the radiator as far forward as I could, I have plenty of room for the LT1.
There is plenty of room on the top to use the offset fill and I also integrated the top radiator mounts where the rods would mount for the 34 ford into the top of the housing for the 36 chevy so in other words - The radiator ain't going anywhere. The radiator is mounted on rubber pads so not to produce excessive wear on the radiator mounts too. She's a nice fit! Since my buddy wanted to get rid of the excess parts, I got this "new in the box" radiator for $250.00. Can you say, I got a great "Find" ???

Go to any Radiator Shop, they have a book that show all sizes and what cars they were made for. For my 26 T coupe I found one from a Dodge at a local junk yard for $20.00, had to do some trimming but it fits great.
Thanks guys! One more trip around the sun completed. Lots of blessings and things to be thankful for (like still being able to type this message!!) Here's to us "over 70 guys.." Glenn
