Crank Drive Alternator
427 FE aluminum block Ford:
I would like to mount an alternator to drive off the front of the crank shaft. Need room for damper and ignition trigger. Can't find any information on off the shelf parts. Does anyone make something like this, or is it going to have to be fabricated locally?
Will this require an overdrive? Does anyone make a little planetary gear set that would work?
Running electric water pump, so high amps will be required.
If it is possible, I need dimensions to see if this set-up will fit into a ERA 427SC Cobra.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Get a high power motorcycle alternator and mount it directly on the harmonic balancer.
It is a project I intend to tackle one day. It'll look trick..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
