1936 roof question
I'm getting a 1936 dodge sedan. It's got a nice big sunroof in the roof. Unfortunately, it doesn't close because it's just a giant hole. (joking about the sunroof part, it's a stock roof.) Orginally, this was covered in vinyl? Do they make kits to do this? Do most people fill over the hole with steel to make an entire steel roof? I'm not going for a stock restoration. I'd rather have something that is practical and doesn't leak.
I feel stupid asking this next question, but the orange/yellow lights in this picture were fog lights correct? Is there a decent aftermarket company for these lights? (Random picture off the net, I know it's not a dodge.)

I'd guess that you should just fill the hole. Go in a junk yard, and look for a car whose roof will produce an adequate patch panel. Cut out your patch and weld it in..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

filled roofs aren't all that tough to do....if you're a good welder and at least average sheet metal skills. Do you want a smooth or a ribbed roof??? A ribbed roof has sufficient strength, a smooth roof is going to require some extra roof braces---and not the wood variety that came on the car.....Station wagons and minivans make good donors, not a lot of crown to the '36 roof so the contours are fairly close.... I prefer to use new sheet metal vs junkyard stuff, but the degree of difficulty and tools required goes up considerably....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

As far as the Amber fog lights, there are a couple of places that sell repop's. I just found a couple of e-bay in a search for 1936 chev parts. Just put in the search bar 36 chevy fog and I'm sure you will find some.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
