Anyone ever use Brookville "A" sub rails???
Have purchased most of my sheet metal from Howell's for this project.
Seems they are not answering the phone, so I am looking for alternatives.
while I have been happy with the Howell parts, if they aren't answering the phone, I ain't sending $300+ and hoping to get my parts
During a web search I see that Brookville sell full sub rails for the same price as Howell's.
I know Brookville makes nice parts, but has anyone used the full length Model A sub rails?
If so what did you think, and how did they fit?
thanks

Josh, we bought a set for our 30 Tudor and also for our 30 rpu. Both were exact copies of Henry's. Not real cheap, but good quality........well, at least by 1930 standards. No, they are actually fine.

I have an entire Brookville '30 -'31 body(see the AVATAR). There are some quality issues elsewhere, but the sub frame is as good or better then the '31 sedan that began my project. My biggest concern was that the steel is not of the same level strength wise as Henry's, but since I've reinforced everything possible, no longer have any worries.Dave W

I see I'm not the only one that is having problems with Howell's. It doesn't answer your question, but may help others. I placed an order online payed with paypal received no response whatsoever from Howell's, several emails and phone messages went unanswered finally 40 days later someone answered the phone. I did receive my order almost 50 days after placing the order.
If Brookville would have had sedan parts they would have had my business.

Generally, Brookvilles stuff is at least as good as Henry's IMO. We had some fitment issues with the RPU Dan bought, but it certainly is better than starting with old rusty steel. Supposedly, Brookville is pretty much working from Ford's original presses and equipment, so the parts should be at least 1930 close to fitting. Anyone who has played with these things long enough realizes you don't get Lexus gaps in most of these old cars. Because we are trying for a better fit than stock we have had to add and subtract some metal to get a closer fit, but that is just a personal thing.
They have also taken as much time as needed to speak with us on the phone and offer advice when we got stumped on something. Never have they refused to do anything but try to help us.
Glad your parts look ok Josh. How about some pictures as this car comes together? Oh, BTW Josh, our local powder coater is really taking good care of us these days...........super discounted price and he makes sure the parts are done correctly the first time. Your input really helped.

Yeah, aftermarket parts are never 100%, but then again neither are factory parts either.
I am waiting for a local fab shop that has some 6" wide "I" beam drops 11' long to call me to pick them up. They are selling to me for scrap price so I can build a frame table.
Hopefully Monday, so I can get started.
I will do a build thread, hopefully I wont get laughed at to hard
Glad to hear you are having better coating experiences, as with everything else in life being armed with knowledge is power.
I am glad I could help

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
