Tom ~ I just remembered that there is an old mural in the downtown area where I live. It's a big brick wall and on it in faded chipped lettering is a graphic for an old Studebaker dealership that must have been there at one time. I could take a pic of it sometime for you if you think you might use something like that
This is a clip from a local paper:
"Commercial history exposed. Repair work on the west wall of the Good Earth building on Seventh Street has exposed advertising signs for some long-gone Holland business, including a Studebaker dealership. Our feedback to building owner Rick Mosher: Leave the old signs exposed as a testament to Holland's commercial history."
And this is a link to an article about the owner of that dealership...

It might be fun to get different Studebaker Memorabilia from old dealerships...since that's where you live...Just another thought.
Have Fun!

Thanks Jerilynne!
Yes I would be interested in a photo of that old mural.
I have been acquiring some old Studebaker stuff. In fact I missed out on a pair of 52 Studes. Actually I had to pass on them as I just have so much going on these last two years. Getting 2 more project cars was not a good idea. I'm sure I'll live to regret it some day as I have a picture of the "showroom" from 1952 with a Studebaker in it.
Lot's of old timers stop by with stories about when they bought a car here.
Regarding that mural, we have a local artist that restored some of the old murals here in town. They really seem to add some historical flavor to our downtown. You may want to suggest that to the powers that be rather than painting over it.

ohekk, your the one with the stude place with the home on top right? When is that show comming out, I was thinking about it last week because I was reading something on how NOT to have a home on top of a shop like that because fumes, etc will rise and get in there and then I thought about your shop (if that is you with that shop, couldn't remember).www.streamlineautocare.com

The HGTV production crew came last Friday. They spent all day! 10 people, 3 cameras rolling. Lots of footage of the shop, showroom, cars and the house.
The program is called "Rezoned" with Tony Fassrand as Host.
Will likely be aired Nov 27 or Dec 4.

AWESOME!
I love the before & after shots. It provides inspiration for us all!
Thanks!
I like how you tiled the wall around the compressor. What was the rationale for that? Cleanup? Just curious!
Nice sink!
What is the blue stuff on the ceiling above the workbench?
OH... and what happened to the Mustang?

Thank you- it was a ton of hard work, the walls used to be plaster and wire lathe. I filled up three- 5 yard dumpsters with plaster. One wheelbarrow at a time. The blue stuff is a section of the ceiling that drops down lower than the main ceiling. I painted it blue instead of white. I put the knee wall by the compressor to make a little work area, and i tiled the walls for just that reason, easy cleanup. just wipe em off! The third garage is on that side, thats where i keep my Oldsmobile (the one in my avatar). As far as the mustang goes, its a 69 mach 1 351, 4 speed m code that is presently parked behind the garage outside awaiting restoration. Thank you for the kind words, and the year of hard work has paid off big time, its so nice to have a clean comfortable place to work on my projects.

Awesome looking shop Dan!! Nice work!!
I had to wait a few years before my shop was up. I still have to finish insulating it, and getting the sheetrock up on the walls, but my projects are finally out of the weather and I have room to work. It was tough moving Christmas decorations out of the way, moving extra vehicles out of the shop etc, just to open the doors or get the jack under the truck when I was trying to work in the two car garage.....
With patience, hard work, and an understanding wife, I finally got my shop up last summer. 36'x40'x12' clear span. My plan for this summer, in between tinkering with my projects, is to finish the insulation, etc. and get some kind of coating or tile on the floor.Metal to burn....sparks to fly....yada' yada' yada'......
Some of the pics I took at GoodGuys Puyallup 2005 are here: http://www.clubhotrod.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=514&thumb=1

Larry M.Every Day I Wake Up Above Ground Is a Good Day!!
In our neighborhood, 2 blocks down the hill was a gas station that (to me) all the cool car guys hung out there. 32 coupes, 33 & 34 Fords as well, a sweet 56 Ford Beach wagon that was setup gasser...
How did you get hooked on cars?
