Some of these garages look like my "cleanick" wife designed them as a showroom. A little too clean for my adventures. One day with me in there and it would never look the same.
Granted the topic was garages not necessarly mechanic garages. I will be adding a 30x40 garage near the house in a few months and always view these discussions with interest.1951 Chevy 3600 Long Box

dmw56, if you dont mind me asking, what do you do as a living?
I love the shop setup, size and the vehicles you have. I'd love to one day have that many cars that are that far along. I have close to that many but none even near completion or drivable....YET.
I'd like to build a shop like yours in the next 3 to 4 years though on a piece of land out here.www.streamlineautocare.com

I am an Environmental Scientist. No, really and stop laughing! I'm saving the planet by recycling old iron.
I have 1 other completed car, a 65 Rambler in the 3 car attached garage with my wife's cars and 3 others projects waiting stored outside. A 1935 Plymouth 2 door sedan, 1954 Studebaker PU, and a 1938 Chevy PU.
The shop is 40 X 40 with 12' high walls so someday I can get a couple of 4 post storage lifts and a 2 post lift.Livin' on Route 66

I do not see why people get mad about the guys who work or worked for wall street or in the stock market and make heaps of money and bonuses (I am not saying you are, but I see a lot of people making that comment in a negative way). It's not their fault that they are smart enough to let their money work for them instead of work hard for money and get a pay check that is taxed very high. I believe, if I am not mistaken, the stock market is the second highest taxed income with regular pay check being the highest taxed and of course real-estate being the least taxed.
I'm sure these guys aren't complaining.www.streamlineautocare.com

Pretty cool building. We have an old service station up the block that was made into a restaurant for years~! It's great to reuse old structures with character, rather than tear them down and build new blah buildings. My garage is actually a 1850's chicken shed. When we bought the house it was falling down, just a bunch of vertical old growth redwood planks, and a disintegrating roof. We rebuilt it about 5 years ago recycling the old siding for the new framed and insulated structure, but kept the same shape and floor plan of the original barn. It's a bit small for a shop, but has two bays, and some loft storage, modern wiring, etc. The cool thing is that it looks like it belongs there, with the old redwood siding.
Unfortunately it falls short of a dream garage, but compared to the old structure, it is a dream garage!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
