weekend progress
Hey guys,
It has been a long time since I have posted on here, or even done any work on my truck. I have a baby due in less than month and am determined to get the truck in paint before then. I took the cab down to bare metal yesterday and started on patch panels this morning:
I cut out the gas filler neck/cab corner to replace it with a patch panel. I have a mustang gas tanke mounted in the back in between the frame rails. No more need for this.
Good thing I did, i found a ton of bondo covering a very crappy patch job.
I am going to put the patch panel in, and then rebuild the inside part from under the cab. It will allow me to make the patch line up better.
Anyway, I thought I would share my work. It feels good to get some actual work done. And the cab wasn't as bad as I thought, however there are a few cancer spots on the roof that were simply filled with body filler. I am going to have to cut those and and replace with sheet metal.
Thanks,
Ben

That will keep you from going stir crazy too while you are waiting for the new family member. It's looking good though. Kurt

Yeah, it will be our first child. We still haven't picked a name for him yet, although we have it narrowed down. It is more difficult than I expected.

Just make sure it's something you think your kid will like!
Because they will have to live a long time with it and other kids can be mean.
And you don't want them to come back and say why in gods name did you have to name me that. No pressure though buddy. HE! HE! HE! good luck with that one.
When your baby is born, and they hand him or her to you for the first time, WOW!
It will change you whole perspective on life and you will now know what unconditional love is. God bless you and your wife and your baby, may he protect and watch over your family. Kurt
Oh and when you get done working on the truck don't forget your wives pickels and ice cream. HE! HE! HE!

How about Ben? I'm so original that my one Son is Don and the other is Dan. Good thing they weren't triplets, I was out of ideas. Wish you and the Mrs best of everything with the new one. You have NO idea how your life is about to change for the better.
Truck looks great, body for the most part is super solid it looks like. Also looks like you are doing a proper repair where needed.
Don

Gonna be a neat truck!!! As to the new baby.....congrats!!! However, I much prefer awaiting the arrival of grandbabies.....more fun then spoiling your own and a payback to your kids for the grief they gave you!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and another thing I've learned over the years.....Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your kids!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Congrats on the progress and the pending arrival. I know both are going to bring you a lot of joy. Sorry but the truck will have to step back for a while once the new one arrives!
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Truck looks great. How did you sand down all of those curves in the cab? That job still awaits me!
After attending something close to 1000 births, I can ditto what has been said above. People go under a big change for the better! Congrats on your soon to be new family, and get some paint on that truck before he or she arrives!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

stovens: I used a poly abbrasive wheel to strip the whole cab. A couple of them actually. I moved around a whole lot and didnt put any pressure on it, letting the wheel do its thing and keeping heat from forming.
Thanks for all the replies.

I got the patch cut and tac'd in today. It still needs to move a bit in order for it to fit perfect, but i need an extra set of hands to get that accomplished. I'll have my brother in law stop by tomorrow to help me fit it perfect.
Then I can start the long process of tack welding that thing in.
Thank you Roger. .
