good place to shop for wheels ?

    Hello .
well this is my first post so i guess i should introduce my self first .
my name is dave and i am 45 , i have built many rods in the past years .
the last 5 years i have been building lamborghini replicas , the last one i just sold was an orange diablo roadster with a BMW V-12 .
and that's enough of that kind of build ! they take WAY to much work

so i am going back to my roots of building a hot rod and i ordered a factory five 33 kit and will be picking it up October 12th .

my question is where is a good place on line to shop for wheels by size and offset ?
the sites i visit want a car for fitment ! i just want to shop by diameter width and offset .
any good ones out there for that ?

    thanks

    Dave

Summit and Jegs both go by wheelsize and backspace, fairly good selection of wheels, too.

Welcome to CHR by the way!!!! Always good to have more rodders from the middle part of the country!!!!

I've found it better to go the the manufacturer's specific website (American Racing, Cragar, ET, etc) and then take the part numbers to Summit or JEGS. The manufacturers list their product by size, lug spacting and backspace. Finding a specific wheel on Summit or JEGs on-line is like a needle in a haystack search without a MFR PN.

I think the manufacturer's web site is a good start...but.....

There is no substitute for looking at the wheels in person. I have found that some wheels are dynamite looking on the monitor but butt ugly in person. I suggest narrowing your search down to a couple of styles and then finding a way to see them in person.....SEMA is a good way, I am sure there are other ways.

Lamborghini replicas - sweeet. And more than one in 5 years!

BMW v12. DAMN. JUST saw a BMW 850 here and it took my breath away.

Sure you didn't quit building those too soon?
Just 3 hours east of you here

Dave have you found the forum for the factory five cars? www.ffcobra.com. There is quite a number of guys building the 33 over there and they are quite helpful. They could probably save you some time on getting the correct offset for sure.

    hey thanks guys !
i have been on the FFR forms and found a 5-1/2" backset is what i need , that would be about 12mm offset .
very hard to find a 19x10" wide 12mm offset .
trying to go 18 front and 19 rear , i can come up with 20mm offset 9.5 wide and run 1/2 spacer on the rear , the fronts are no problem with an 18x8 and 20mm offset on them is 5.5 backspace . i just don't like the idea of running a spacer on the rear .

the lambo replicas were fun to build but very demanding ! the fabrication was unbelievable . just to build the doors would take forever .
around a year to complete and that was working on it almost everyday .

i am so looking forward to building a REAL kit ! the pickup date is october 12th .

once i get started i am sure i will have some build pics to share .
i do all my own interior work and paint , basically everything from ground up .

here is a picture of the orange lambo i just sold .

    thanks again

    Dave
