I used to think that til I got to really looking at some of the newer Camaro's, Mustang's, Vette's, etc. Some of the 17" to 19" wheels with the 40 to 45 series sidewalls sure do fit the wheel wells nice and offer a super wide profile without having to run a 28" tall tire that doesn't fit the wheel well.... On my 'maro, I tried one of the ZR1 replica wheels in 18X10 with a 295/45 tire, and it fit and looked great!!! It gives me a 26" diameter tire with a 10.5" footprint and fills the wheel well great!!!!

I don't like the 24" things with the rubber band tires, but I think I'm going to go with a set of 18" rears and 17" fronts.... another thing I've noticed on the 17's and 18's, it's about the only way to get a Z or W speed rated tire without having to pay $300.00 a tire.....

Dave I'm running into the same thing looking for tires for the truck. It seems old speed ratings are dropping, making way for the rubber band tire and wide rims! I guess the days of jacked up rear ends are fading away!
