I have considdered getting both of mine louvered. My pontiac has the deck lid done from the factory and I think it wiuld be cool if the hood matched. My 48 would look great punched as well.I am thinking 4 to 6 rows with the two middle the longest and the others tapering fom their. I can add that into the concept, Chevyman. Can you rebuild a Qjet without breaking a nail?

If you get the louvers, make sure you buy lots of band aids for when you start sanding them!!! Had a louvered hood done for a Ford pickup once, decided all the bloodshed during the body work time wasn't worth it. Depending on how serious you are, and how much money you want to spend, friend of mine here in South Dakota does it for $1.oo per louver, the shipping would be quite spendy, but he does an excellent job.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Thanks Dave! I am sure that the louvers are quite sharp after being punched. I think I will take the time on each louver to nock them off. I would rather spend that time than cutting open my little fingers. Can you rebuild a Qjet without breaking a nail?

$1.00 per louver is the price they charge here too. You have to remove all the paint from both sides before it's punched. And smooth out the sharp edges with a file.
I don't like the roller type of louver press. If you buy those dies you still need the bead rolling machine that they're mounted on and they won't work for most hoods.
I'm thinking of buying a set of stamping dies and using my milling machine for a press by mounting a hydraulic cylinder to the back side of the turret.
