1966 F-100 Shortbox 2wd. Styleside or stepside?
I bought this truck as my first project. Not BadAfter buying it and bringing it home. I noticed the hole in the drivers side of the box. like a step i'm guessing. But its a Styleside. theres a molded piece the fits in there nice and neat not a custom job but factory molded aluminum. I looked all over the internet trying to find another truck with this but found nothing just the optional tool box but on the passenger side. Do I have a styleside/Stepside? Here is a picture not the best ill take a few more up close pictures later today. anyone got any ideas on this. i like it but it doesn't fit the direction i'm going with the truck. but if its rare thing then ill be fine with finding a different truck. any help would be great thanks Dan

Dan,
You cannot set a picture link to pictures located on your local computer
IE: C:\Users\Smith Family\Documents\Pictures\2009-12-01 1966f100\Pictures
C:\ is your local hard drive and not a drive or picture server located on the web.

Hey Dano,
This truck is definitely a 66 styleside. The hole in the side of the bed is for an optional step which I don't think is all that rare or attractive. I would weld it shut and smooth it out.
I also have a 66 F100 shortbed styleside. It's a great little truck.
You can also find out tons of info about the trucks at a couple of Ford truck forums. Here's the links if you wanna check them out:

Seems to me that those were aftermarket add ons, from places like JC Whitney. Not sure, thats from a long time back, but I recall seeing them back in the late 60's.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
