Poor mans air conditioning
Last night when I left the shop my Son Dan was working on installing a 32 Ford cowl vent into his Model A RPU. I see this morning he got it done and posted some pictures on another forum, so I stole them to post here.
The main reason he had to add this vent was because he is using an underdash master cylinder setup and had no way to easily check the fluid level or to fill it. He considered a Model A gas fill but that hole is very small. So this year at Turkey Run he picked up a complete cowl vent assembly from Brookville Roadster and got that installed last night.
These pictures should be pretty self explanatory but essentially he cut a square hole in his Model A cowl, trimmed lots of excess he didn't need on the 32 vent assembly, and welded it in. Once it was ground smooth it will need very little filler, if any, as it looks like he skipped around welding it and kept distortion to a minimum. Just thought if anyone was thinking of doing the same thing this might come in handy.

This was the reason for the vent. You can see how tight the master cylinder is to service. This will make it much easier.

Oh Don ........ nice job & isn't it easy with the right tool for the right job??
Nice clean install. Like it'd been there from the start.

Another fine job by young Daniel. Those panel clamps are sure clever devices too, I hope the guy who thought them up is getting his reward.
When I saw the title I thought you were going to post this pic.........Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Thanks guys. Don't know the formal name for those clamps, we just call them panel clamps. Eastwood sells them among others , but we also found them at Harbor Freight, much cheaper. They are kind of a slick deal, they pull the two parts into alignment and slip out after you weld around them.
No Ken, Bob is craftier than that. His would have had a retractable electric cord reel to give him greater range.

Well I guess I need to stop skipping a head I was just gonna ask about the master cylinder. I am planning on putting my master cylinder under the drivers seat but I am a little worried about something poping up and hitting the new brake pedel.

As long as it doesn't extend down below the frame you should be ok Kurt. My 23 is very low and my pedal is floor mounted, never even comes close to anything. How is yours setup? Any pictures?
