Ahhhhh love those old timey articles on racing.
Those drivers all needed a head exam - no safety equipment at all.
An autobiography, "Gentlemen, Start Your Engines" I read many years ago by Wilbur Shaw went into what 1920s - 1940s drivers did to prep and if found, probably still a good read for 'racing historians'. Amazon has some at $118 - $125 (and to think, my almost virginal copy, it got sent to the Salvation Army years ago)Dave W
