My '51 Stude Build
Hi all:
I'm new here and I see there are several posts on Studebakers! Some really nice cars and good workmanship too.
I have one too. I originally purchased the car in 1965 built it up with a Dodge V8 and torqueflite transmission. I did not have a lot of funds then, (I was in college), so it wasn't real fast, but I had a lot fun with it and made a lot of good friends. I sold it in 1970 as I had gone on active duty in the Navy. I soon regretted selling it but was not in a position to do anything about it. However, 23 years later, the car literally dropped in my lap. It is absolutely the same car. It needed a lot of work, but it is now nearly finished. It now has a '68 Camaro front clip, a Blown 350 with a TH 400 trans backed up by a GV overdrive. A narrowed 12 bolt holds up the rear of the car. It will primarily be a Street Rod, so It will have some creature comforts.

Man that is nice. When I was a kid, a local racer had one just like yours that he raced in M/stock,then T/stock.Over the yrs Pete Magel's "Maget" would be at the pay-out window week after week.Just quietly taking home the money while the big dog dollar cars would be braking stuff and not be nearly as consistent. After a number of yrs,we all figured out Pete made more money than anyone.LOL.Sure did make me a big fan of those cars then and still today.Good Bye

I've always thought those cars need a rear fender upward extension, so that the top of the rear fender goes more or less straight back from the top of the front curve. Think '56 Pontiac.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Neat Stude! Cool build.
Wish some of my old cars I sold would "drop back in my lap"
A Mach one Mustang comes to mind first!
Good Luck! Don Jr.Don Jr.
