    1967 GMC 1/2 ton truck

I will probably be aquring a 67' GMC 1/2 ton 4X4 from my grandfather. I did post somting on the converting diesel to gas thread but I thought this was in no way a Mercedes Benz. Anyway, I know that I want to have Smoke Stacks if possible, It has a 8' fleetside on it, solid floors, body ( except rockers ) and it has a 4 spd manual on the floor, most were 3 spd on the tree. It is powered by 74' Blazer 350 ( although seized ). I plan to have the motor rebuilt and put off road performance parts like Truck avenger cam and edlebrock off road carb with a good intake. I want to recover the interior or put my Mercedes Benz front buckets in ( but recovered ). What is a trusted source of body parts and some interior parts for a truck like this? I have thought about Classic Industries. I would also need to get a new tail gate as the one that is on it is an old Chevy gate that is rusted apart. I want it to look fairly good inside out and under the hood. I want to paint it Le Mans blue if the interior is blue as I think it's blue but my color inspector mommy says it's light green and not light blue. What do u recover seats with? the same that u recover sofa's and house furniature with? I was thinking about getting an indoor outdoor rug and using that for the floor and loose the torn stuff that's there.

To tell you the truth, I have had some hands on experience as, me and my dad do 85% of are faimilies mechanic work togther , just last summer we replaced the head on his 1983 Mercedes Benz 240D and I have been helping change the rotors and brake pads on my faimilies cars. I never claimed to know it all but, now that I have been given a lot of information from people on this site, I can help others out with the knowladge I have been given on questions they have that are simmiler to the ones I had or, ones I know the answers to. I wish to get into Hot Rod building as a profession and attend Hot Rod Technical Institute. Oh, and I'm not in collage, I'm just in High School. I don't want to offend anyone, or make myself feel superior to others, just I may post some things that way when I word them wrong but I mean nothing of it.

Do you think that a more cost efficent way to go would be to get a 454 or 502 off road RAT engine instead of having the old 74' 350 rebuilt and then put some performance cams, intakes and carbs on it?I know it would cost around $500 for the rebuild. I would still put the intake, carb and cam on but I want to make the most low end torq as i can cheaply. Oh, you wont have to worry about me speeding with it, it is geared so low ( factory ) that it probably wont do over 70 but in the same token, it would go anywhere and be unstoppable.

I got's to find out what truck it actually is b4 I order the LMC cat , but I found these guys whail serchin on the internet http://www.brothersonlinestore.com, They seems to have everyting I need cept, the shifter boot thing that holds it 2 the floor and the seat covers. Of course I will check LMC b4 ordering any part. I think to save money I'm just gonna have the 350 that's in it rebuilt and I'll just add on a performance cam and other variouse torq builders such as the intakes and carbs and a few other things. One quick question, The truck is equipped with a perfectly good radiator ( or was ) but it is not in very good visual condition and is very rusty, what can I use to paint the radiator or refinish it at a fairly inexpensive price? Yeah, I don't know if the core is any good on it now that a month or so ago my brother thought it would be a good idea to use the old top radiator hose for a cold air intake on his car ( can we say cobjob ), He also took the horn for a secondary on his car ( don't know why ) but, I got one that works in the impala parts car I got and, it uses the same exazt hook up, in fact it's the same exzact case but, it sounds a little diffrent.

    gots the truck model it's a K 15 cause it's 4X4

I just remembered the placement of the truck and my parts Impala. I will have to tow the Impala out of the way b4 I can tow the truck out back up to my house. I also matched the interior color with a color pallate for 67' and 68' GM trucks and, it is aqua.

I'm not going to do major off roading but, I will be tearing it up in the indian trails every once in a while. I will be getting the vynal replacement instead of carpeting if I have the money. Can't really plan what to do with it until I got it in my driveway. Just out of curiosity, I was thinking about putting a 3" body lift on it, so I could put 31's on it, How do you do that? And Is it smart for a truck that will mostly be road driven but, off roaded once in a while?
