    Pictures for Vara4

........... here are the photos I promised of the brake system on the Thames ........... we have the body off runing lines so getting pictures was easy

We're going to run a remote reservoir low on the left hand side of the firewall in conjunction with the pictured setup.

Wow Nice set up mine is almost the same.
Mine is all home made, but that lower bar that
pushes back on the rod for the master cylinder
makes me nervous. probably worring about nothing.
Thanks I willtry to get some photos of mine for you.

kurt if your worring about the push rod falling out of the cup of the master if your not using a booster or if the rod is not clip in to the piston. you can use a return spring or some of the mopar master have a clip on the end of push rod that clip in so it can not over center and fall out

My first licensing run in my pro stocker , the brake pedal swung back on launch and the rod came out of the master!!!!! exciting seeing how far a 160mph run rolls out with just a parachute and no brakes---

On the way home( borrowed trailer) winch cable breaks and car falls off trailer at about 70 mph---- Cyclone fence caught it just as it was about to t bone another car on the off ramp---

John---I just got a royalty check from the decal people--you building something else???

    Happy Birthday to all Americans

I am not worried about the rod falling out.
I am worried that some road trash will pop up and hit it either
braking it or slamming on the brakes.
Yes it will have a brake booster though that is not installed yet.

I have the Slixx decals to do your Mustang flopper and a Comp Resins Buttera body ........ trying to decide between Billy Meyer's flamed Mustang, Doheny & Fullerton's Trojan Horse, or the California Charger

Please tell me more about your Pro Stocker ......... that sounds very interesting

As Jerry says, don't worry about losing your brakes ......... just deploy your chute

OK---more about the prostocker---and since you guys mentioned the chute

Only once did I ever have a throttle stick open and only once did I have a chute fail to open---and yes they were both on the same run----clocked somewhere 170ish, put out the laundry at about the first light (speed trap 65 ft before finish line) lifted at 1/4 marker---engine stayed at at near 10 grand, didn't feel chute hit (with the old 2 inch harness, shoulders would be black and blue for a few days after a race)
where is this thing going to go??? lucky, I was at Byron--where there is a one lane road off the far end that goes further south down near the nuclear plant that is south of the track---so pointed the Monza for the road and started shutting things down and gently tapping the brakes---get things shut down and it is quiet except for funny wind noise--
took a ways to get stopped as that road isn't as clean as the track and bumpy---

get it under control, lite it back up and turn around and drive back to the track turn off road, stop, get out to pick up chute and it is laying in a nice folded arrangement on the wheelie bars---windshield chrome trim ( back then cars were stocker, no carbon fibre or lexan) was blown loose and folded back around and over top( strange wind sound or maybe my a** was sucking air, or both) distance I went and rpm tattle tale figure it was near/over 190 maybe 200----

Got a driver not too long after that

PS--it was a Simpson chute just like yours and I think the same wheelie bars except my springs where at the top

    Great story Jerry

You said it was a Monza, so I'm guessing it was powered by a smallblock ......... details sir ......... I need details ......... considering trying to build this vehicle in 1/25th scale

Its the one in my avatar--also in my gallery--and a big block--was .030 454 for 460 inches and later 522"
Once I fiqured out the rear springs and also those springs on the wheelie bars, it was a front runner
1/25???? seemed like the wheel base was only about that compared to the fueler!!!!
