Winging Neighbours
Do any of you guys have problems with neighbors wining about when you start your hot rods.
I live next door to a winging old bag who is a councilor who got upset big time last weekend when I started the rod and had it idling for about 5 minutes.
I've got to tell you the women is a little unstable but as soon as she's on the back foot out comes I'm a single woman and the people next door are bastards and start the car all the time etc.
The true story is the rods lucky to do 50kms for the year and if started 95% of the time its rolled to the front before its started ( Garage 9m x 6m )
Engine in the rods 350 fuel injected in 32 ford roadster

my neighbor 'doc' collects old cars and fixes them/resells them.
Whenever I fire something up he comes over to check it out.
Other neighbor is an old annoying man. He called the law when I built my shop... he claimed I was opening a diesel repair shop. Anyway, most annoying complaining types are known as annoying complaining types....
Took thirty seconds for the tax guy/building guy to see I was not opening a business. I spent half an hour bs'in with them about neat cars/trucks that I have/had.

go ahead pat! you can come by my house like that any time. My neighbors really are not that bad. I also have one that will play rap at 1:00 in the morning. all i do is crank up my stereo at 8:00 a.m. so that can listen to clapton and hear what real music is. My other neighbor is a crack head so he does not like the cops either. he tried taking something once from my garage many years ago. I went out with my winchester 30/30 and he promptly put it back. have not had any trouble since.BARB

I kinda see both sides of the argument. In my earlier years I was pretty inconsiderate of my neighbors and would work on my cars till all hours and my Wife would have to remind me to keep things quiet sometimes. Now that I am older I feel bad about some of that and understand why they sometimes had code enforcement paying us visits. These days I rarely bring my hot rod home out of consideration for others living here, and if I do it is during daylight hours, never at night.
My pet peeve now are those thumping base stereos that some people feel they have to share with everyone else within 5 miles. Our current residence isn't bad but the last place we lived at was not so hot and I was always going out to remind someone that everyone else living there did not want to have to listen to their racket.

I`ve always been considerate of the neigborhood with my cars, we had new people move in across the street, from one of the pacific islands, well to say the least calling the cops got to be a weekly thing on Friday nights, so the other neigbor next to them directly across the street from me had me and my son bring his 370 ci dart with open hedders to do a tunning session in his driveway at 6:00 am the following morning prior to going to the strip, my son had climb in on the trailer, hit the throttle once and hit the key the car exploded to life, he then backed it off the trailer, I`ve never seen so many people come flying out of a house so fast in thier underwear, that was the last party they had, we had told them that this was going to be a every week thing if they had continued with their partys til two in the morning, they had moved a year later.Toys

Could understand the winging bitch if I was revving the car but it was just idling. She evan had a wine a few years ago when we left for a trip up North in the car at 5 am in the morning and I just cruised slowly past.Trust me if it was'nt for the wife worrying about the bitch I'd be revving the car all day long.grinding and bashing as well just to teach her what noise is

Aww,mate, you want to try having South Africans as neighbors..Lotsa fun..You cant make ANY noise at all,BUT,they can make noise if they want to..Long story, lets just say, that after whining to the local authorities about me working from home, and he got no joy from them,in fact I was within the bylaws,,so,eventually,he sold the house and moved closer to town,,hoping it would be quieter...yeah right..
I dont make a lot of noise at all,but what little I did make was too much for him.Micah 6:8

You better becareful Barb.
Your better than a dream come true for most of these guys.
Work on your own cars, play good music, and guard the shop too.
One of these guys will get a divorce and show up in VA trying to Wine and Dine you.

Reading these makes me happy that I live where I am right now (we're moving to VA eventually). I've never had a complaint, but a few years ago I had a guy stop by wondering what the "music" was coming from = my now long gone T-bucket with straight non muffled pipes. He was from 2 blocks away. We do have on Nova a block or so away that gets a little noisy occasionally, but even that's for a couple of minutes and during the day on Saturday before the drags. Now - the hound owned by the Statie across the street, that mutt was out last night at 11:30 yapping away, and since my wife just took a part time job with the town we live in.........Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
