    Pie crusts

While looking for some info and generally killing time the other night I thought of a racing tire company from 25 years ago. I punched in their name and lo and behold they are still around. While poking thru their web sight I found that they produce the old pie crust slicks don't know the prices but thought it might be some usefull info. Heres the link.

There have been threads on other forums about Towel City and the general consensus is that they make a good tire. Lots of guys say they have run them and that they have had no problems. Nice looking ones too.

We ran them on some dirt cars years ago, they where retreaded NASCAR takeoffs.Nobody liked em because of the hard sidwalls and the hard compound but hey, they was the same for everybody and they did equal out the guys with big horsepower.Never saw one come apart. With that said I'm not real sure the piecrusts are retreads.

I think they are retreads from what I have read, but supposely with new vulcanizing technology that makes them adhere well. I would be willing to try them, and may on some future car.

I ran their race tires for a couple of years, with no problems. We could run those or street tires. I have a set of their piecrusts on my rod. I am happy with them. They are hot caps, NOT the glued cold caps that gives everyone the notion that all recaps are bad. They use dot radial caseings and the original molds from the 60's. Price was $350.00 to the door for 9.5 x 28.5 x 15's. Those were black walls. I think 10 more each for white wall, but don't quote me on that.............. Ask for Herb. I lived in Kannapolis for about 8 years before I moved back to Texas.
