Heck Pat, Sorry if you took offence to my tongue in cheek comments and yes you have raised excellent valid points. Here in NZ we can't sue anybody like over in the States and if that had happened in NZ.,the Transport/Civil Roading people would of looked at the barrier, scratched their heads and then decided that the barrier could be better designed and after 20 + years of meetings extra,we the public would still be waiting for improvements.
At the moment people are going on about making our roads safer to stop accidents, but at the end of the day,it is the idiot behind the steering wheel that must take full responsiblity for their actions or lack of.
Again Pat ,I'm sorry if you took my humor the wrong way.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

the big square end gaurd rails are far superior and safer than the ones with one end buried in the ground. when you hit the square ended ones, the gaurd rail flattens out as it curls off to the side, absorbing the energy and bringing the vehicle to a fairly quick stop. of course, everything being manmade, nothing is perfect. but for better than 95% of what hits them, they beat the other kind. cable barriers are also amazingly more sturdy than they look.

2 weeks before graduating from high school ( 1967), a good friend of mine lost control of his new Mustang and drove into a guardrail. It stuffed him not so neatly into the trunk. NOT a pretty sight!

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
