    Steve,
I didn't have time to read the links Dave sent, but just from my experience the msd is dependent on the battery condition not the charging system. So as long as what ever you are charging it with is capable of keeping the battery up I don't think it matters. We never had a charging system in our race cars we just charged them up after every run. My 2 cents.

Ken - the only thing I was concerned with was the fact that while the generator produces volts and amps to maintain a battery, is really a "dirty" way as compared with an alternator which does the same way, but is electronically controlled and makes cleaner electricity. The MSD might not have tolerated the "dirty" power well and needed a filter - but it looks like Steve has the OK from them to go 'as is'

Thanks Ken, I was slightly concerned that the generator might struggle to keep up if the electric fan kicked in but according to MSD tech it should be fine with a decent sized battery.
