Open Headers (yikes!!)
After burning my leg for the umpteenth time on the sidepipes, I decided to yank them today just to see how I'd like them off
Never realized how much of a difference those muffled pipes make
Went for a 10 minute drive and my ears are still ringing
I figured I'd make a short shakedown run before putting them back on just to compare

Might want to put some heatshields over the pipes, prevents some of the burns anyway....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Man that sounds absolutely awesome and heck your car can certainly boogie to a good tune. I think though that I would only run the car like that occasionally in aid to save the hearing, YOU KNOW THE HEARING,HEARING, sorry I had to yell at you when you are so young. LOL LOL.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

I have a couple header tattoos on my forearms from my previous rod which had chrome plated outside-the-frame headers. The slightest touch would leave a blister. After I had them ceramic coated, it cooled the headers so much I would no longer get a second degree burn if my arm touched them, just a slightly red spot. I don't wear shorts, so I never had to worry about burning my legs, but chrome headers can leave nasty burns. Having your headers ceramic coated is something to think about.

Yeah, I've gotten a few arm tattoos from my drag boat lol
Don't think I'll be coating the headers unless the chrome starts pitting though....

Sure woke up your little A, didn't it? Sounds great. As soon as we hit Daytona I uncapped mine and kept them open till we left on Sunday. It was fun pulling into Bel Aire Plaza and driving down A1A through the crowds with two loud T's. Made us feel like John Force for a little while.
On the subject of header burns, Don burned his head on is header right after we got it running. For some reason, Dan lost it and couldn't top laughing. It's all healed now, so no harm.

ceramic coating...it's what's for dinner. Chrome looks ok, but you've either got to train yourself to take GIANT steps when you disembark, where long pants, or suffer the consequences. I have a car with large factory sidepipes, and I make accommodations for them whenever I get out - as do my wife and my sons.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
