I could use some info on that as well. I have a 37 Chevy panel that was cut into a pickup a long time ago. I am trying to decide on whether to sell it now or get it going and then sell. If I get it going, I will put it on a different frame because I think that will be a lot cheaper.

oc, I was figuring measuring the wheelbase on the 37 and comparing to some modern pickups such as ranger, s10 and maybe even dakota and see what is available. Not sure if any of them are close, but figured it was a start.

On my 37 I made a 2x4" frame from a template from the origional and then boxed it. As far as usuable frames I have a friend who used a early dakota frame amd have heard of using a s-10 but can't say for sure if the s-10 will work w/o cutting.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Not sure about a '37 Chevy, but I saw a really sweet '40 Ford pickup in Ponca City that sits on a Chevy S10 chassis. It fit real nice, and the guy said it drives like a new S10 and was pretty much a drop on with some new body mounts welded on.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Fame reccommendations depend on what the final product and what you want out of it. If you want an independant front end or modern suspension geometry in the rear; air bags, leaf spring or coil overs; even if you want air conditioning; where the master cyl, booster? go are all factors that need to be considered.
I personally feel there is more value in a well made traditional hot rod and i'd go with the original or a copy of the original frame as the above responder suggested. If you go with an S10 frame don't spend any real money because no matter what it'll have an S10 stigma.
Right now is the time when you have to make some important decisions, look ahead a few years and what do you see yourself riding in? What gets a smile on your face and your nipples hard, put that down on paper and post it here. Thers' some smart people on here that will be able to fill in the blank spaces, the missing steps and the proper sequence that'll go from now to the finished product.
    Good luck, oj

I think you can use up to a 46 frame, the wheelbase might be a little different but the frame is very similar in design.
