Donovan gear drive/ nostalgic piece..?
Its amazing what comes your way when your not looking for it, got a call from a friend right after work that is cleaning out his garage, the same guy that I got the valve covers from a while back, a donovan gear drive, old nostalgic piece for small block chevy, staight cut gears, very noisey I`m sure, if I don`t decide to use it I will hang in my mancave for wall art, I already called Rex Hutchinson to see if I can get a thrust roller button for it and shims, he`s got them. It cost me a twelve pack of diet pepsi....Toys

Could actually find a clock mechanism to put in the crank hole, friend of mine did that with a front cover and found the clock mechanism in a hobby store! Rich,
Nice find but unless you like that constant whine following you down memory lane I would hang it on the wall. Would love to have it on my wall next to my Eddie Meyer heads and Buick aluminum brake drums.

Actually the Donovan gear drives aren't as noisy because you set the clearance on the gears--they aren't like the Jackson drives that doesn't have any back lash control
Besides that---why are you calling it an antique?

Well sense I`m running a sig erson in my coupe now I`ll just hang it in the man cave with clock works like Dave said, I put it next to my three duce offy manifold, early sixties vintage, flamed mail box, old Sacramento autorama poster ( heavy carbord they would put up on telephone poles) few old pics, couple of hot august nights posters, speaker from our last drive in movie theater before they ripped them all down....Toys

Not many people run them any more do they Jerry, just some of us die hards, I have the sig erson with the fixed idler like the donovan, also have a jackson in a box some where on the shelf....I might go ahead and get the parts now, just in case I decide to use on another project. Pat thanks for the part numbers...Toys
