Someone needs to protect the aquifers too. It takes over 80 gallons of fresh water to produce one gallon of ethanol. Several ethanol distilleries in my state have been closed down because they depleted the groundwater supply, and couldn't remain profitable because they had to pay to re-drill thousands of citizen's private wells that went dry.

More than 1,7000 gallons of water is required to produce 1 gallon of ethanol from corn. This includes the water required to produce the corn crop, plus the water used in processing the corn to create the ethanol. In addition to the energy used to grow corn for ethanol, there are other significant environmental costs. For example, for every gallon of ethanol produced, there are 12 gallons of sewage effluent that must be discarded. Most of the sewage waste is processed in city sewage processing plants, producing enormous quantities of carbon dioxide.Donate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE
Two possibilities exist:
Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not.
Both are equally terrifying.
