    Would it be unreasonable?

I'm a young guy (17) and I really want a vintage muscle car, as some people might already know. But I would only be driving it during the summers and it would sit in the garage most of the year when I'm away at college. Would it be unreasonable and impractical for me to buy one?

Lex Why would it be unreasonable? If your talking about a muscle car and you living where you live, about the only time you do get to drive it is the summers. My 37 and all previous cars would be on the street as soon as it warms up and in storage by the end of October. If your real serious about buying one go for it!.

It will be expensive and time consuming, but it's a hobby and that's what they are.

Go for it! As long as you can pay the freight it would actually be a form of investment as they generally are only going up in value. It's great you have a place to store it while you are away at school, invest in a quality cover, even if you park it inside.

Well I wouldnt be home during the winter so I wouldnt have to worry about the snow. I would also try to stick to buying one from around my area, so no shipping charges would apply.

The impracticallity of it would be mostly the storage and MPG. But man I would love it.

Cruising season up here is from mid April till mid November. It's warmer way down south where you are so you should have plenty of time to drive it.
Who said you have to be practical anyway? Being happy is more important. You can buy a minivan for the winter to prove you still have a practical side.

Geez lex, what does practical have to do with it??? Hot Rods and muscle cars are an investment as well as a form of personal expression. If practical what we were all after, guess we'd be driving Geo Trackers or something equally boring.

Hey Lex, this old dead guy (I mean like even older than super-geezer Streets) name Ogden Nash wrote, "Life is far too important to be taken seriously". To paraphrase it in the vernacular of the day, "If you can't race it or take it to bad it ain't worth havin'". Nuff said.......

Well this car would be my only car throughout the whole summer, thats all I'm worried about. I dont have to worry about cruising season because I'll be in Arizona from August to May and NY isnt a big cruising state as far as I know. I need to do some more research but its between a muscle car or a 5.0/Z28.

Watch out for those Fox 5.0's in Arizona, Ford's cooling system is entirely inadequate for that car.
