Vintage Car Show-Koreshan State Park
This past Saturday I went to Koreshan State Park for a "Vintage" car show. It was their first annual so the turnout was a little low, BUT there were some cool old cars there to be sure. The show was held in the park and it was beautiful. Not only were there cool cars but the grounds were so neat with all or most of the original buildings intact (including the old workshop and power generating plant) too neat. They even had a blacksmithing workshop where they had kids make their own tools just like the old days. It was so cool to see some kids using tools and forming tools they could take home. The workshop was really cool with all of the original tools on display. What a neat day. I heard a funny comment while I was in the restroom though. Two women were talking and one said to the other "what a great show, so nice to see that there are no hot rods here" I about spit out my gum laughing. I am sure Dan, Dad and I would have shook them up if our open header hotrods cruised in
Here are some of the cars, Don Jr.Last edited by Mr Blue; 03-07-2011 at 09:17 PM.

Great pictures, Don. Some restorers REALLY hate us guys who "ruin" these old cars by modifying them. I used to go to a show sponsored by the local restorers clubs and they HATED us showing up and would walk by and make very rude comments. Strange how we car lovers get into little groups and can only appreciate and accept certain cars that we deem acceptable.
I went to a little cruise tonight myself, down at Ft Myers Beach. Nice time and I wish I had brought my camera because the original 65 Ford Police Car was there from the Andy Griffith Show. The two guys were dressed like Andy and Barney, but they had English accents!

Good pix Don Jr..You guys have the same problem as we have..The restorers hate our guts, usually, because we ruin so many old cars..Funny thing is,that we as rodders have probably saved more from scrap than they have..Even funnier now to watch them have a cautious tap on the body, before they abuse us for destroying something..If ya really want to cause a stir, take a friend, and a tape measure, and a roll of masking tape,,so you can stand beside a coupe, and discuss the best chop for it..
Incidentally, that,no both of those r/pickups would look good whacked around a little...
Just remembered...I think LIFESTYLZ did something similar,as in took a tape out to a Model A Vicky, late last year,as a club run went thru Mangakino..
Just cant trust those darn hotrodders...Micah 6:8
If we aren't supposed to have midnight snacks,,,WHY is there a light in the refrigerator???

Although I've driven by this park a million times over the years, I really knew very little about it's origins, other than it was some sort of religious commune from years ago. Don was telling me that they wanted to be totally self sufficient to the point of making everything right on the grounds, growing and raising all of their food, etc.
I found this on wikipedia, in case anyone was interested:

Too funny with the tape to measure for the chop of the top I bet they would have swallowed their teeth! I walked out of the restroom right after the comment was made with my Rod and Custom hat and my hot rod tshirt on. They looked like they saw a ghost.
I have lots of respect for these restorers and I think you are right that hot rodders have saved more of these cars from the crusher than any restorer has.
Good link pops to the Leaders of this commune. Really cool grounds and buildings.
The power plant was the coolest with the huge alternator providing power for the whole place until Westinghouse provided power as we know it today. I wonder if that alternator would fit in one of our rods!!?? Seriously that thing was 4 feet by 4 feet easily. Too cool.
Thanks for looking. Don Jr.Don Jr.
