    Differences between a 1950 F1 and 1951 F1

Hey guys, I was hoping some of you gurus could help me out, which parts are interchangeable between the 1950 and 1951 F1's?

We started a 1951 F1 build, body wise the cab is solid, but has the usual rot front and back of fenders where they connect to the running board. the tailgate is beat badly. we have already had the grill chromed and all the trim polished out etc.

Then my uncle bought a complete 50 body, the cab of which has a lot of rust, but the fenders and bed are like new. so.......

It seems obvious to me the front fenders won't swap over, so we're looking at whole front end. The bed for the 51' we'd already mostly rebuilt and cut for the tubs as well as the fuel tank, so my questions:

    1. is the chassis the same for both years
    2. will the front end (hood, fenders etc) of the 50 fit the 51 cab
    3. will the 50 rear fenders fit the 51' bed or do we need to use the bed from the 50 as well
    4. which running boards, or does it matter?

    Thanks guys.

Man I don't have a clue but if you have both in front of you a measuring tape will tell the story.

Comparing the parts in a couple of F100 catalogs...

Chassis - My guess, they are the same
Cabs - don't know, again, my guess the front end should fit
Beds are the same 48-52, not sure about the fenders
Running boards are the same 48-52

Check with these guys and download their catalogs. Lots of good info even if you don't buy parts from them.

Thanks guys. I don't have everything in front of me, its all spread out over a couple different spots. I was just trying to get an idea ahead of time, if I we were going to end up selling part of the stuff no point bringing it back to the shop.

At first I thought I didn't like the 50 as much as the 51, now I'm starting to think I like it better. grows on you I guess.

You can install the 50 sheet metal on to your 51 as long as you use the entire 50 front end. The mounting points are the same. As the fenders, hood, grill are different shapes so you can’t mix and match. The cab is basically the same except the back window is wider and the layout of the dash is different. The doors will interchange. The rear fenders interchange 48-50 & 51-52 as I think that 51 is slightly different shape than the 50. My truck is a 50 F-1 flat bed. Hope that this will help. Mike
