Pinstriper Wanted
Looking for a Pinstriper on the Central East Coast of Florida. Anyone know of one or had any experience with one that they could recommend? Thanks

Wish I had some suggestions for you, but I've never used one from here. I was lucky enough to meet Skratch at Turkey Run and he did my 23...........it was a work of art and I hated to give it up when I sold the car.
There are a lot of guys that go to the larger shows and do striping, but only a handful are any good. We've seen some really bad striping over the years, so I see why you are looking for recommendations.
One suggestion, if the parts are small enough to ship, you could send them to a well known striper and get them done that way. That is what we are going to do on my Son's rpu, pack up the headlights and some small pieces and send them to Skratch to do.

Here is some of the stuff he did on my 23.

Thanks, I am looking to do the headlights and rad shell on a '32, so I may be able to ship. How expensive is the striping?

I don't know the regular prices, but the work he did you see in the pictures was only $400 and I tipped him $ 50. He said that was a special price because he was just hanging out at the show but if I had it done at his place he said it would have been a grand. That number seemed a little steep to me (the thousand, not the $ 450.) but since he is sort of a famous striper and all, maybe that is the going rate in California.
I'm sure there are really good ones here in Florida, I just don't know who they might be. If you go to any large show you will see them working, so maybe you could look over their shoulders and if you see some work you like get that one to do it for you.
We watched one striper doing a T bucket at one show and it was really bad..........fat lines and just not very creative IMO. But the owner of the car liked it, so that is all that matters, I guess.

Thanks again, I am going to some shows coming up and will have to keep looking for a good one. You're right though, 450's not so bad, a grand is too steep.Last edited by gypsy; 09-05-2011 at 10:06 PM.
