Could maybe narrow the parts store deal down to about a dozen. On name brand stuff when I'm just looking for a good supplier, it's usually whoever of my usual, Speedway, Rock Auto, Sumitt, Jegs, Texas Speed, or a few others is offering the best price and or best deal on shipping.

All of them offer free or reduced rate shipping on various brands or various times....that's when I like to buy the big, heavy items or stock up on inventory items.

For standard parts, I've got a friend at a local Car Quest here in town who actually still knows how to use a catalog--and keeps all the old ones--delivery is free and it allows me to run a lot of shop supplies, etc on an account that I pay monthly rather then writing another check or digging for cash every time I need something... Though sometimes that monthly statement can be really scary!!!!!

for the second question, lots of very knowledgeable people right here on CHR as well as a couple other sites I use. But, bar none, my favorite source for Hot Roddin' knowledge is Amazon.com--pick a subject and they'll show me a dozen books about it!!!!

And my sage advice for the day is don't try to be an expert on everything!!! Knowing who to talk with or what source to go to is not a sign of weakness. I'm an "expert" on automatic transmissions, I know right where Jim Lindbergh's shop is, he does everything automatic for me, has for years... Got to know who to go to!!!!

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!
