Changed CPU's on the Server Tonight
As many of you have witnessed over the last couple of years, the server at times has been less than stable. While this has been a problem for you all, it's been at least as big of a challenge for me getting the stupid thing going again and again at all hours....The challenge has always been that the server is remote, there are no errors/logs that indicate what the problem is, etc, so it's been a lot of hours over time trying to diagnose memory, software, raid, CPU, etc, etc, etc....
Anyways, as a last ditch effort for this particular server, I have replaced the CPU's with AMD 3rd generation quad core processors. If nothing else, it will help with performance.
All that said, I have no idea yet whether this will address the problem or not, but if I find that it doesn't solve or otherwise reduce the frequency of the problem a great deal, I will be building another server.
To all of the contributing members, you paid for the CPU's and I appreciate the contributions.Brent Mills

I think I heard in the republican debate the other night that we should have a single language....that would have certainly reduced the confusion in this thread.

BTW, I haven't received an alert email about new posts to subscribed threads in a couple days. Individual problem or others have it too?Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
