Always good to see a company stand up behind their warranty, so many companies offer a warranty then won't do a thing when you have a problem. This is also probably why companies like Jet Hot are still thriving when so many other companies just fall by the wayside.... Customer service means a lot!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I had a bad experience with JetHot on my '29 Ford headers twelve years ago, I sent a set of outside-the-frame headers and collectors to JetHot in Mississippi. I got back collectors with small dents and headers with dirt in the finish. They said they would do them over but I had to pay the cost of shipping, which was a fortune because the package was too long for UPS and had to go freight. Pissed me off. So JetHot is not high on my preferred vendor list. The freight company may have been responsible for the dents, the the dirt in the finish was clearly bad quality control. To their credit, they will recoat headers one time if a hot exhaust screws up the finish. Perhaps their other two plants provide better results.

Lynn,
Can't argue with a bad experience, but they no longer have a Mississippi plant according to their website. Transport of something like headers is always a crapshoot, and I think I paid $70 the first time for UPS including them boxing them to ensure they'd accept liability. I'm lucky to be planning a trip to the Tempe area in a few weeks, so I'm simply carrying them out & back in the SUV, which is good on both sides. Helped me make the decision on taking the Jeep, or riding in comfort, too!!Roger

Good idea, Roger. I would never send anything like that again. I would plan on delivering them in person.

Id like have this done to my headers. I hear there is some break in time for the coating? and dont put them on a new engine till its broke in? so will break in engine, then over some down time aka -winter- send out for coating. The wife has me on a diet patch, but I don't think its work'in, she said you have that thing on right? said, ya, on my arm. She said, dumb ass, it go's over your mouth!

The issue is not so much breaking in the coating as it is getting the engine tuned before you install the coated headers. On mine I used an old set of cast manifolds with extension pipes about 18" long to start and tune. After I thought it was right I installed the coated headers and all was good. Then about six months down the road I was chasing a tuning problem, and decided I needed to check my base timing setting. Taking the computer out of the loop gave me fire at TDC, which dumped a ton of raw fuel into the exhaust and turned my headers a nice rosy pink which cooked the ceramic in about five seconds. I now know that I did not need to take the computer out of the loop, but instead could have simply checked the light reading against the computer set point reading.
Once you have your timing locked in, known right; and your mixture dialed in right you're safe to have them coated. Mine look great again, and I don't hesitate recommending Jet Hot. Good people, good product and great customer service.Roger

Here's the visual on the recoat. Jet Hot did a great job, and the headers blend in perfectly with the polished aluminum on the engine.

Roger - look great. As an aside, Meguire's Aluminum polish works well on them for continued shine. I assume that Mother's will too. These at around 2K+/- miles:

I had a bit of concern when they started smoking on the first start & warm-up, but it was just the ceramic "burning in" and it did not change the appearance at all. They should stay just like this, with an occasional polish. Jet Hot recommended something like Mothers, but like Dave says Meguire's or a similar metal paste should work fine, too.Roger

Well, I was blown away this morning when I got a personal "Thank You" call from Mike at Jet Hot, telling me that they really appreciated me sending my headers to them for coating, and this is with a warranty re-coat!! I told him that he can rest assured that when I get to the point of needing things coated in the future they will be headed to a Jet Hot facility. Not only do they do great work, they have amazing customer service.Roger
