New engine coming together for the Studester

We're getting close to seeing the completion of the new engine build for the Studester. The 383 engine that's propelled her for the past 6 years was passed down to the 52 GMC we built this past summer, with the intention of building a new stroker that would have the performance and appearance worthy of this unique rod. I tasked Ed Hurst of Hurst Engines to spec and build what I had in mind, and its looking like a thing of beauty...

    Specs:

    1997 Chevrolet truck block
    Bored .030, stroked to 3.750"
    Eagle rotating assembly
    Balanced, blueprinted
    SIR 4340 free-floating (bushed) rods
Sealed Power Speed Pro Hypereutectic pistons
    Moly filled piston rings
Block squared and decked to piston height of .007"
    Static Compression Ratio 9.7
    Fel-Pro 1003 head gaskets .041" thick
Piston to head is .041" squish after torque
Competition Cams XR270HR hydraulic roller cam
1.6 polished stainless roller rockers (Effective lift: .525-.531)
Prostar aluminum heads with 190 intake runners and 2.05 intake valves
High performance double roller timing chain
    Melling high volume oil pump
    Hardened oil pump drive shaft
    Chrome 7101 intake manifold
    Holley 750 CFM carburetor
    Phenolic carb spacer
    Holley electric fuel pump
    MSD distributor and wires
    Chrome alternator & bracket
    Chrome timing cover
    Chrome oil pan
    Polished stainless steel bolts throughout
    383 Cu In. displacement
    Approximate Horsepower: 480-510

Can't wait to get it installed and on the road!!! Gonna be a fun cruisin' season...

    Tom,
I didn't know you were going to post this on here or I would have talked it up a bit . I know you are going to be pleased with the engine. I wish I could be there to see the initial run in the truck. I hope you get good prices on tires.
