safety first
I have a newfound respect for an electric fan. They are as dangerous as a mechanical, apparently. 13 stitches in two fingers. It only took a moment of innattention.
SO. Stay focused while you work..

Sorry to hear that.I don't remember where I read it,but the spinning fan is a distraction of your eyes so you end up reaching where you shouldn't.It's kind of the way our brains are wired.

Exactly and is the very reason people walk into spinning props .Is that your face or did your pants fall down?

An electrician who worked for me was chcking a computer for a machine that was not running properly. While I was watching him he put his fingers into the running cooling fan. What a mess. He said he didn't know why he did it????Charlie

I don't entirely understand it myself. I reached in to check airflow, plenty of room, but managed to let two fingers touch the fan. Strange..

Glad you only had to get a couple of stitches vs. loosing a finger or two. Fans scare the hell out of me. Saw a friend in high school do that with a mechanical fan. He was lucky to only require a few stitches too.Keith
I keep telling myself, it's only money!

True dat.
Couple of years back a mate was telling me how he was working on a motor, and stuck a screwdriver into the fan.
It ricocheted out past his ear and hit the wall with a bang.
So he picked it up, walked back to the motor...and did it again!
"I just don't understand why I did it," he said, "I knew the dangers, but some part of my brain just closed down."
And he was no fool, in fact he is a very clever chap.
But on that day...for some reason...
