Guys, the link for info on TX titles and registration is at this link: TxDMV - Motorists
On the right side of the screen, there is a bar to click for titles and another for registration. They are huge PDF documents but they are searchable. Search for classic, street rod, antique, etc . . .
To answer Emmet's question, vehicles with antique plates are subject to the following limitations:
(a) The department shall issue specialty license plates for a passenger car, truck, motorcycle, or former military vehicle that;
(1) is at least 25 years old, if the vehicle is a passenger car, truck, or motorcycle;
(2) is a collector's item;
(3) is used exclusively for exhibitions, club activities, parades, and other functions of public interest and is not used for regular transportation; and
(4) does not carry advertising.

Welcome to the club, Jack! Mine's a 2010, but the difference is in Kansas it gets personal property tax assigned as a 2010 instead of the blanket $17 for an antique - something in the range of $375 last year.... Texas doesn't assess personal property tax on vehicles, so it's not as much of an issue.
That #3 is the Killer! Technically if you drive to the parts store, make a grocery run, or hop in the "antique" to go get a hair cut you can be ticketed by an energetic local Barney Fife. That's what I do not like about the SEMA model legislation being proposed to states.Last edited by rspears; 03-07-2014 at 03:31 PM.

Thanks Gents, I'm pretty sure I'm OK but I will check it out further so there's no surprises. As far as getting caught at the Beauty Parlor in the Fairlane, No Problem.

So Emmett which plates do you run on your old iron? Looking at the info Jack posted they offer Antique, Custom, Classic or Street Rod plates, in addition to all of the "normal" varieties for trucks, cars, bikes, etc. There's not a "Classic Antique" category listed, at least not in what's posted here.Roger
