Electric power rack and pinion Steering

2013 Camaro has electric rack and pinion steering--a little bit bulkie compared to Mustang/Pinto racks but no power steering pump required---I still think I would rather use the hydraulic units along with hydro boost brake system--but here's 3 pics of it and I would suggest that you take a look under the 2013 Camaros to get the big picture--IMG_2233 (1280x853).jpgIMG_2234 (1280x853).jpgIMG_2235 (1280x853).jpg

"Is that electric over hydraulic or just electric???" was my thought also, first shot the tubes on the left top side was the key. I say it is a pump.

    All electric:
"New for 2013, an electric power steering system developed for the ZL1 is standard on all SS. This variable ratio, variable effort system provides light efforts for easy maneuverability at parking-lot speeds as well as increased resistance at higher speeds, providing more feedback and a more direct steering feel."

"The EPS system is more efficient than hydraulic systems since it only needs to provide assist when the driver is actually steering, rather than rotating the pump constantly, and it keeps the environmentalists happy since there's no harmful fluid involved that needs to be flushed or drained."

    Who would have thought??
