yep and not for any 49to51 hood springs . i open my 1935 motors did not see any thing like that as a tool ?looks like some thing to hold them old steel rims with wooden spokes to work on them some tool came with car like tire tools ?tool kit ?. the teeth look to small to hold and front end coil spring ?Last edited by pat mccarthy; 09-08-2012 at 05:29 PM.

I think it's the adjuster for either the carburetor belt or the muffler chain.........Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Well I showed it around the cruise last night, and nobody there knew either although someone suggested it looked like it might be something that clamped to the bumper (as part of something else). While we looking at it someone held it just right and you could just faintly see some part numbers on it:
Type C
B12176 (on the larger stationary part)
C12175 (on the moveable jaw)
I’ve done some searches but come up blank with those numbers.
I’m beginning Pat may be on the right track however LOL.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

looks like there is a recess around the bolt place to stick i poll ? i would go along with the bumper deal. like part of a old tow rig .tow turck ? some thing not car at all like some thing chevy made for the military for a jeep ? did gm put there name on parts??Last edited by pat mccarthy; 09-09-2012 at 02:34 PM.
