Chevrolet Whatsit
Ok guys, here’s one. I brought this back from my trip to Illinois. Other than it being a clamp of some kind and having the Chevrolet logo cast into it I have no idea what it would have been used for. I suspect it may have come from a 37 Chevrolet (but then again maybe not).
Anyone know what it is/was used for?

That's what I think it was / is - a tool for removing suspension springs.

Can't tell the size of it, shoot another photo with a quarter or dollar bill beside it. I'm thinkin' if it's small enough, it could be an adjustment device for the emergency brake cable.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Sorry about not giving the scale of it. I thought about the brake thing, but just don't know.

With the logo on it I'm leaning more to it being a tool or accessory rather than a part. A spring compressor was my first thought too, but for what springs?
There is a cruise tonight (if it’s not rained out) and there is a guy who usually shows up I’m going to ask about it.

I'm thinking suspension springs and you probably needed 2 of them to do the job - - - - I googled "antique coil spring compressor images" and the basic design sure is consistent in the various types. Sure hope the weather allows the cruise and the "expert" has the answer for you..

Seems small for any type of suspension coil? Then again, '37 was the first year for a coil spring front suspension, right?Roger
