    Who (doesn't) like Custom Cadillacs?

Went to Hot Cars and Guitars car show and blues festival in Hollister California this week-end. Seems that 40s and 50s Caddys are gaining in popularity. Check these out from mild to wild!

First one is one of twelve ever produced and two known to still exist. Have you ever seen a '56 Cadillac Station Wagon? This is all orignal with one repaint, it took best of show.

Here are a couple more with one for the ladies.

This one is a teaser for what follows, it is a nice mild custom '48.

So if you really want to go crazy with a '49 here is what you might do. This looks to me like a drawing out of Dick Tracy or Roger Rabbit. I am so impressed with people who can envision something like this and then execute it.

So you and your brother also have a '40 sitting around and you want a matched set, so you build this.

And here are the two together,

I think I may have posted pictures of the '49 here before, but have never seen the '40 until now. Talk about a pair of talented brothers. I feel bad I don't recall their names.

    Hope you enjoy

Very cool, Pat! Thanks for posting. I particularly like that '56 SW! Wow, one of 12 made, and only one repaint in 56 years!!

Here is a 41 I was sitting next to at a car show in Summerset KY. It has a North Star engine and is set up for RWD using a torq tube connected to a rear trans from a newer Vett. A friend has a 49 Convertable

Thanks for the pics, Pat!!! The two bronze colored customs are just downright inspirational!!!!!! Seems to me that owning a Caddy back in the 40's thru the early 70's made a statement about the owner----They'd "arrived" at where they wanted to be in life and were secure enough with themselves that they enjoyed flaunting it a bit!!!! I have lots of respect for the folks doing the old Caddies now, the bill on chroming alone has got to be staggering, but when you're done, be it a pristine restoration or some degree of custom they have a very unique ride!

Yes, the Cadillac slogan was/is: "Cadillac - Standard of the World"

Dave, maybe it was the thought of the chrome bill that inspired that the builder of that 49 to mold everything in?

Would be fun to put one together, just hard to find any Caddies around here worth doing...Mostly just a bunch of four door stuff.

They made some 4 door hard tops that can be done very nicely. Great when you want to take the grand kids along.

They sure do, Pat! The early to mid 60's Caddy's 4 door hardtops have a lot of potential, too bad the stuff I've seen around here is the fugly old 4 door C-Dan stuff...;.....

I suppose if a guy has to ask what he wants for one of them he probably can't afford it???

If he was to sell one they would be very expensive,I think he was wanting to get all that were still around so I doubt he would sell any. If I can remember correctly he has 5 of 7 that were made and not sure if it was 55 or 56.

Sure would be a fun car to build!!!! Suppose I'd have to settle for a Buick or Olds wagon and just keep wishing it was a Caddy!!!!!

There is yellow one that had popped up on ebay a few times that needed to be restored but never met reserve.
