Don, thank you, still settling in.
Mike, I rotated the wheels together and counted input shaft, got 10 input to 8 wheel revolutions. That's 1.25 : 1. Crazy fast..

Here is a link that shows how to decode them. The important part (to me) it that it's a 2.58 ratio.

The link didn't post. I'll have to recount the input/output turns, as I didn't come up with that ratio. Maybe the gears got swapped.

The ratio is kind of an odd ball for a 9", which makes me wonder if what you have might be a 9 3/8 (often refered to a s a 9 1/2).
Best way to check is going to be to pull the carrier and count teeth (I’ve never had much luck counting rotations). Besides after seeing the workmanship on the housing I’d be real curious to see what they did on the axles.

Ok, I found an extra couple letters on the tag , ( re-posted ) picture.
What I've found so far: built Sept 8 1970, 2.5 ratio, 8 3/4" ring gear,
Looking good for a Bronco too ( thanks tech, looks like you nailed it ).

I just scored a trampoline for free, mat is rotted out. Lots of good steel tubing, lots of 90 bends and straight sections. Can you say full - tube frame and cage?.
