I have a mallory cap and it measures 3 9/16ths, except for the bolt-down ears. the cap is larger that the distr body/housing.

The distributor doesn't care which terminal is designated as #1 so you should be able to bias the hold down ears to be angled away from the firewall if you need to.Roger

I used the Accel dual point with Accel big rectangle coil thing back in the early 80s when I had the 54 chevy 5 window truck with a. 030 over blueprinted small block.
Mallory seems to get the nod here.
