I just joined and would appreciate your help
Where is the VIN located on a 1939 chevrolet sedan?
It had a body tag on the right firewall, but no VIN, or serial number

You might try one of the Chevy specific sites......some of these VIN tags (they werent really VIN tags back then) were on the seat frame facing forward on the passenger side. A really smart place since the seat could be easily changed. A lot of older cars went by the "motor number" which was equally bad since the motor could be/ would be changed. Of course, since these were NOT VIN numbers, they were not intended for official identification of the car.
