    Rochester 2G carb number

Just trying to find what year carb I have so I can get a rebuild kit for it. It is a rochester 2 jett with a stamping # of 7000285 on the float bowl. That is the only number I see. I'm looking to put it on an Offy 3x2 intake. The other carbs I have are center carbs for the 64-70 GTO 3x2. any help would be great

You also might google Mike's Carburetors and give him a shout- - - - Mike sure did help me with my Rochs on my dual intake sixer build.

    Mike,
When I try to apply that code ID guide it doesn't seem to fit the three zero's following the seven. May just be that I don't understand. I Google'd the number and found it referenced in a lot of eBay offers for old parts, other forum queries, etc, etc, but in the ten or fifteen minutes I invested I didn't hit gold. Again, may be that I just quit too soon, or left that one link unopened.

    67Chevelle19,
Welcome to CHR!! Have you tried visiting your local Chevy dealer? It looks to me like the casting numbers were somewhat sequential, and if so it seems to point to something in the mid-60's, like maybe '66 or there about? One link showed PDF's of Chevy Parts Counter cut sheets listing carb parts, but it didn't go earlier than '69 so no joy. Also a place called "Mike's Carburetor Parts" (link Welcome to Mike's Carburetor Parts - Your Number 1 Carburetor Parts Store )that seemed to have a ton of good info, and lots of people asking him questions on his blog. Might be a place to try? Good luck on the search, let us know what you find (I'm curious now....), and we hope to see you back.

Most tri-power set-ups use the 2G carbs for the center, and the 2GC (smaller) for the end carbs, if drive-ability and mileage is a concern you might want to consider a similar set-up.....

Sorry, but for some reason your post didn't show up before I started typing my reply, and even after I hit "Post Quick Reply" your reply had not shown up yet even though it shows 25 minutes passed between your "Post" and mine. Twilight Zone......

I did a bit more Google Research, and I'm thinking that the "7000285" is just the float bowl casting number. The key to the right "kit" for that carb is the triangular tag that was on it at one time. I'd still try the guy at Mike's Carb Parts and see if he can help.
