Roger, when you pulled the pump apart, did you see any debris or small pieces of metal in between the gears in the pump? I've seen small pieces of metal get in the pump in between the teeth causing them to lock up. I've even seen them get on the top or bottom of the gears, create gauling, and seize the pump. The pump definitely killed the shaft.Ryan
