Caught a break this morning which goes a long way to easing my mind on the debris. Before I started messing with getting the intake back on I blew HP air through all of the oil ports in the valley area. As I was picking stuff up I found the rest of the lifter clip on the floor. No more worries about where that other piece went any more.
