    Mercedes 190SL Hot Rod???

I have a chance to pick up a 190SL for $1,500. It is not in too bad shape but has no motor or trans. Looking at the body it looks like a 5/8 scale 300SL, and we all know how cool those cars look. What about a small block and a decent suspension upgrade, or a buick turbo v-6 from a Grand National?? Original black on black car? What do you guys think?

Sounds like a deal, but I would put it back the same, then sell it to some rich yuppie for big $

The 4 doors with V8s are what's cool now.

Hey Dust, it would definitely be different. Streets and Fast gave you the logical and fiscally responsible way to do it, but I would have to look at it as a good project car!!! Sounds like it would make a very nice home for a Windsor stroker motor and a 5 speed to me.

I just picked up a M-B 180b. A real nice one. I'm probably going to go for a turbo 4 banger of some sort or maybe a modified GM 2.5 with a 700r-4 trans. no room for a v-8. A good paint job, some big wheels and tires and we be drivin to the Goodguys Nats.

Greetings... Just found & joined this great site! Curious about your reply (above). My wife has a '91 500SL with a super clean body & Interior... but the MB V8 & auto trans are almost shot.

Having stuffed a SB Chevy into a 914 a few years ago (with the help of an "off the shelf" after-market kit from Renegade Hybrids), I'm hoping to find some info; or follow the advise of anyone who has dropped a 350 w/a Gm turbo tranny into a mid '90's 500SL.

Any info or leads you could share would be greatly appreciated! Hope you & your Family have a Blessed Thanksgiving! David

    David,
