Need Dash Help on my 32 Coupe

Installing vintage air this fall, and I want a dash with a console that comes from the bottom of the dash to the floor for ac vents, radio, maybe a few gauges. Anyone know anyone that builds these? thanks for your help in advance.. marc

Hey Marc, welcome to CHR! On the console do a bit of surfing for DIY fiberglass consoles. With a simple wood base, some fleece material and fiberglass resin you can freeform a console that will look good and be one off, too. Or something like this process - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSjfKLH9P20

There are also lots of threads on this site where guys have started with a steel dash and diced 'n sliced their way to custom perfection. All depends on your skills time and tools.

Here's a video specific to modifying a dash. It could be used to completely fabricate a new dash.

Here are a few pictures of mine I'm almost done with.

MDF sides, fleece, and a few layers of resin. After some sanding it is ready to cover.

Welcome to CHR Marc!!! If you don't have the time or equipment or whatever to fab up your own, some very accurate poster-board templates in the hands of a wood worker of medium or above talent and you would soon end up with a form ready for some glass work.... For that, any body man worth his salt, or a buddy that does 'glass boat hull repair and you're in business with your very own design dash and console!!!!

Also, some of the Deuce guys on here could probably be talked into selling you a duplicate of one they did!!!!

Just to add, you might also want to wait on making templates or doing a lot of designing until the heat/air unit is installed, defrost ducts and outlets made, etc....

For an build that I did for a customer a few years ago that wanted Vintage Air, Radio, defroster ducts, etc---but still keeping the classic 32 dash look(gauges, etc) I cut the flange (fiberglass dash) off where it mates to windshield area and added 4 inches which gave some depth to the space from firewall to dash panel for the ac unit (was a little tight between one guage and the a/c)---
I will try to find some pics of it showing work however it is the 32 that is in my gallery on this site--------

Mine came from Gibbon along with a dash extension. I had to narrow it about 3 inches. I don't know if they are still available. If I had to do it over again, I would build my own out of luan and fiberglass matte.
