As so often happens with "custom" stuff, reality rears it's ugly head and dumps all over the best laid plans. A quick read above shows the upholstery beginning in July. Well, the interior went fairly well, but when it came time for the top all hell broke loose. I think I mentioned it elsewhere here, but we had to send the top irons back to the manufacturer, who's actually a new owner of the tooling since I purchased this one, but he made good on the pieces anyway. Had to get new wood bows too since the old one had the wrong shape for who knows what reason now. So, long story short, had to redo a bunch of little stuff, get back in the schedule conga line, and then work our way through. So today the top is FINALLY just about done save for some minor trimming that should only take another couple days.

    TADAH!!!

Then on to finishing the rest of the nose fitment and a few more details and we're ready for next season. WoooHooooo!

The old adage, "Good things come to those who wait..." points out the virtues of patience, but seems appropriate here. The line of the top looks very nice!

It certainly looks good now though Uncle Bob. When you can could you take a photo of the top down please as I'm interested to see where and how they fit around the rear of the body. That would be much appreciated thank-you Sir if you can. The seat certainly looks comfortable enough that you may have trouble getting your self out of the drivers position.

It might be a few months before I can do a top down shot due to weather. The boot is the next thing on the agenda after the trimming bits. Today we worked on how best to fold the system down into the well behind the seat and create the pocket back there. Turned out to be more complicated than imagined. The seat is very comfy for my height.

Hi Unc, it's good to see things are nearly there. I'll bet Lee can't wait to do some cruzin. All the best things are worth waiting for.

Great looking car, Bob! Glad to hear you're getting it finished.

How is the Atomic EFI? I'm looking at one of the retrofit EFI units for a project. I still don't know which one I want to use.

Wow, that is a great looking street rod! I too am interested in the efi. Let us know how it does. You just don't see many efi systems on street rods. I intend to run a Holley HP system on my street rod, and as I fit in the "old goat" category too, may wish I hadn't. LOL!!!
