Cool Rat Rod I spotted on Vaca
My wife, and 2 friends were walking out of the cabella's in Owatanna Mn, when I saw this cool ride in the parking lot. I started walking over to it and my friend and his wife started calling me a stalker. I said yep, you fawkers can just wait while I check it out too. Haha
I know not all appreceiate rat rods, but I like looking at what other people come up with. This car was built pretty well and not a hack attack unit. I really liked how they chopped the body and riveted it together in the rear. Kind of neat. The mirror was pretty cool, I'm not sure I like the open trans tunnel portions. Definitely a sweet little coupe! By the way, my wife is the young lady in the white shirt.Ryan

Well I will freely admit I am not a fan of Rat's but I will take time to look them over and ,yes, by those few photo's it appears well constructed. I too liked the individual touchs the owner has done like the chain surround on the rear view mirror and those rocker covers had me wondering for a short time as what make of engine. I agree with the above comments also about how low it is and that I would never be able to get my body down into it let alone get out again. I do like the way cab has been changed around to suit the owners requirements.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

I couldn't believe it wasn't on air bags to be so low and still be driven without huge gouges on the floor pans. I bet he has to watch it real close. That rear view mirror caught my eye too. I thought that was pretty cool. I'm not a real fan of rats either, but I sure do like seeing new ways about doing things. I'm sure the inspections are a lot different than Texas. I don't know if Minnesota has any. I know Iowa does not if you have an original title because I've seen some scary stuff in this state.Ryan

We've got some pretty low Rats in Texas and the Antique/Classic Rules pretty much cater to the Enthusiasts. At least so far they do.Last edited by MelloYello; 08-15-2014 at 07:13 PM.

Antiques are exempt from inspection in Texas. ASVE street rods require only an initial inspection. Classics require annual inspections.Jack

Those small cool things is what I like to check out. I also like trying to use what you have to. Sometimes it's hard to get stuff together without making it look weird or dumb in your head. Just my opinion though.Ryan

Interesting piece. I still haven't settled on what engine that is; looks sort'a like a Chevy, but then again, it could be a MoPar, or a ????? The reast of the car looks to be pretty well put together, but it's not my bucket of bolts. It amazes me the amount of work someone will go to to make a well engineered and built machine look like a pile of junk.Rrumbler, Aka: Hey you, "Old School", Hairy, and other unsavory monickers.
